How to Use the Enchanting Table Simulator

Adjust the bookshelves (0 to 15) and enter your current XP level — this determines which of the 3 slots you can use. Choose the item you want to enchant and view the enchantment options for the 3 slots, each with an XP and lapis lazuli cost.

Click a slot to enchant for real — this consumes the XP and lapis for that slot, applies the rolled enchantments, and rolls new options for all 3 slots, exactly like in the real game. Use "Reroll (free)" to peek at new options without spending anything (a simulator-exclusive feature not present in the game).

What determines the levels of the 3 slots?

The number of bookshelves around the table. Without any bookshelves, the slots range between 1 and 8. With 15 bookshelves (the maximum, placed 1 block away from the table with no solid blocks in between), the third slot can reach 30 — the maximum enchantment level in the game.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many bookshelves do I need for the maximum enchantment level?

15 bookshelves, properly placed around the table with a 1-block gap, unlock level 30 in the third slot.

Why do my table's enchantments change all the time?

The 3 slots are rerolled every time you successfully enchant an item using any of the slots — it is not possible to see other options without spending XP and lapis lazuli.

Does the lapis lazuli cost change with the enchantment level?

No. The lapis cost is always equal to the slot position: 1 in the first, 2 in the second, and 3 in the third, regardless of the required XP level.
