Mob Farm Output Calculator

Choose your target mob, adjust your farm parameters, and find out how many mobs, XP, and drops it produces per hour in Minecraft. Compare different mobs and see how long it takes to reach an item goal.

How to Use the Mob Farm Calculator

Choose your farm's target mob and fine-tune the parameters: how many mobs spawn per spawn cycle, how many cycles occur per minute, and the actual efficiency of the farm (not every spawned mob reaches the killing chamber). Select your weapon's Looting level and the kill mode โ€” automatic kills (hoppers, lava) disable XP and rare drops, as only true player kills generate experience.

The "Hourly Output" section displays a general summary, while the "Drops" tab breaks down every item the chosen mob can drop, including averages per mob, per hour, per day, and in stacks. Use "Mob Comparison" to see which mob yields the highest production under the same farm parameters, and "Goal Time Benchmark" to calculate how long you need to farm to reach a specific item target.

Does Looting affect all drops?

No. The Looting enchantment increases the amount of common drops (such as rotten flesh, gunpowder, or bones), but it does not alter the drop chances of rare drops (such as iron, carrots, potatoes, or skeleton bows) โ€” those odds remain fixed regardless of your Looting level.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my mob farm need player kills to grant XP?

In Minecraft, mobs killed automatically (by lava, hoppers, or fall damage) do not drop experience orbs or certain rare drops, only standard item drops.

Does Looting increase the drop chance for rare drops?

Looting increases the quantity of common drops (such as rotten flesh or gunpowder), but it does not affect the drop rate of specific rare drops like iron, carrots, or potatoes from zombies.

What is an ideal efficiency percentage when calculating a mob farm?

Efficiency represents the percentage of mobs that successfully spawn and reach the kill chamber, taking mob caps and despawns into account. 80% is a realistic estimate for well-optimized farms.
