How to use the Materials Calculator

Choose the structure shape you want to build — cube/room, floor, wall, cylinder/tower, sphere, pyramid, staircase, or circle/ring. Set the width, height, and depth, and choose the fill type: solid (entire structure filled), hollow (only outer walls), or floor only (a single layer).

The result shows the total number of blocks and how that translates into stacks, shulker boxes, and chests, ready for you to plan your material gathering trip.

Are curved shapes exact?

Cylinder, sphere, and circle/ring use continuous geometric formulas as an approximation — Minecraft builds in square blocks, so a perfectly round sphere or circle does not exist exactly in the game. The values here are a great estimate for planning, but the actual result may vary slightly depending on how you draw the curves block by block.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to calculate how many blocks I need for a build in Minecraft?

Multiply width, height, and depth for a solid cube. For hollow structures, subtract the inner volume from the outer volume.

What is the difference between solid and hollow fill?

Solid fills the entire structure inside. Hollow builds only the outer walls, saving many blocks in large builds.

How many blocks fit in a shulker box?

A shulker box has 27 slots and, with blocks that stack up to 64, holds 1,728 blocks in total.
